Look Your Best This Summer
Cellulite
All women beyond a certain age have it, no matter how thin or fit they are. There are myriad creams
and potions, a treatment called "Velasmooth", as well as ultrasound treatments that claim to cure cellulite. Unfortunately, there is no objective evidence that any of these treatments work. Your best
bet is to improve your diet- reduce carbs to just a few servings a day, eliminate junk food and begin
a serious exercise program. According to Jeannie Peters, registered dietician of the Nourishing
Wellness Medical Group “Most adult women need to do 5 sessions/week of exercise to lose weight.”
She recommends a combination of aerobic and resistance training with weights to reduce cellulite
and improve muscle tone. And remember, nothing tastes as good as looking thinner feels!
Tanning
Avoid tanning beds. They have been linked to skin cancer. Sunless tanning creams offer a good alternative. The products for home use start at $10 and are easy to use. Apply a light moisturizer
to areas with thicker, dryer skin like knees and elbows as those areas may otherwise absorb too
much product and turn out darker. Apply from the feet up for the most even, sunless tan. For a professional result, using natural products, Chocolate Sun in Santa Monica has an all natural,
organic, spray-on tan that some of our patients swear by for special occasions.
Leg Veins
Hate those red or blueish spider veins on the legs?
Sclerotherapy, a simple in-offic e injection treatment,
can rid you of those veins in a few easy treatments.
The treatment sites may look more red or have slight
bruising for 7-10 days, so plan to do this at least
2 weeks ahead of your vacation.
