I've just returned from the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery Conference and I'm just bursting with good news for those who have suffered with damaged skin and visible signs of aging. Two new treatments approved by the FDA, the newest Fraxel® Laser treatment and Radiesse® are sure to bring a fresh face to treatment options. I'm also pleased to announce these treatments are available in my office today!
First, with the new Fraxel® treatment, Fraxel-2, there is new help for acne scarring, age spots and pregnancy mask. This new procedure using a technique that allows for a much faster recovery and noticeable difference in skin quality over its predecessors. I'm happy to share that our office is one of the pioneers in bringing this treatment to the South Bay. Second, the new filler Radiesse® has been approved by the FDA and this is great news. Radiesse® is used for smile lines, marionette lines, filling in around the nose, cheeks and jaw line. What’s New? The Latest Fraxel® Laser Treatments
There’s new help for stubborn skin problems like sun damage, acne scarring, age spots and pigmentation problems. The latest Fraxel® Laser system, availble in Dr. Goodlerner's office, has improved so much over previous treatments, you'll never want to go back. The major improvement is the shorter recovery time, greater safety from fewer complications and the ability to treat all skin types.
The new Fraxel® laser can improve sun damage of the face, neck, chest and hands, acne scarring of the face, chest and back, surgical scarring and pigmentation-age spots with less downtime than traditional laser peels. The treatment leaves microscopic areas of normal skin around the treated area allowing for a quick recovery. Most patients report going back to work in 2 or 3 days.

Soothing Treatment For Winter Weary Skin
Overcoming dry skin in winter isn't impossible, but it does require some attention. Dry skin is usually a long term and recurring problem, especially in winter. It may be an inherited tendency or caused by a metabolic condition, such as low thyroid. Increasing age is also a contributing factor, so it is important to try to determine the cause of dry skin.
When old man winter blows, no one is safe from the drying impact of heated homes and cars. Here are a few tips for keeping moisture in your skin this winter.
Take shorter showers using warm but not hot water.
Replace standard soap with a substitute such as a synthetic detergent cleanser, water-miscible emollient. La Roche Posay Lipikar-Surgras soap is a lipid enriched soap especially formulated for those who suffer from dry skin and eczema.
Always apply an emollient liberally and often, particularly after bathing and hand washing.
Treat eczematous patches with a topical steroid for a 5 to 15 day course. These would be prescribed if necessary by Dr. Goodlerner.
