As a board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Goodlerner specializes in minimally invasive cosmetic dermatology procedures to enhance the appearance of both men and women. She is skilled in a wide variety of treatments that address cosmetic issues from the signs of aging to acne scars, veins, and excess hair.
Cosmetic Dermatology Treatments
Dr. Goodlerner offers several types of injectable treatments: neurotoxins such as Botox to relax hyperactive facial muscles that cause wrinkles, dermal fillers to plump wrinkles and specific medications called sclerosants that eradicate small leg veins.
All of these cosmetic dermatology treatments are safe and require little if any recovery time.
Botox injections soften fine lines and wrinkles on the face and neck, creating a younger appearance. Dr Goodlerner has been performing Botox treatment since it was FDA approved in 2002. She also trains other medical practitioners in the proper techniques for Botox. In addition to cosmetic use, Dr Goodlerner offers Botox treatment for hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating).
Abnormal pigmentation or brown spots are a common concern for our patients. The usual culprit is sun exposure without adequate protection. Pregnancy, oral contraceptives and estrogen therapy make pigmentation worse.
We offer 4 different topical programs for skin brightening, including an all-natural kit without hydroquinone (for those who are sensitive to this medication) If topical therapy is not enough, we recommend superficial peels done by our esthetician , TCA peels performed by the doctor as well as three different laser treatments, Vbeam laser, Fraxel laser and CO2 laser.
Dr. Goodlerner provides injectable dermal fillers such as Sculptra, Radiesse, Restylane, Juvederm, and Voluma to add volume to lines and wrinkles and stimulate collagen production.
Juvederm Voluma is the latest volume enhancing filler to reach the market. It is made of a denser version of hyaluronic acid, the same ingredient as in Juvederm and Restylane which have been available since 2007. One of the benefits of HA or hyaluronic acid fillers is that there is a medication to dissolve the filler in the event of a bump or irregularity.
Voluma is specifically approved for enhancement of mid face volume.
Cosmetic Dermatology Treatments for Men
More men are seeking to maintain and enhance their appearance with minimally invasive cosmetic treatments for men. Botox is the most popular, followed by dermal fillers, laser treatments for facial veins, brown spots and acne scars and laser hair removal. Dr Goodlerner is an expert at the special needs for men regarding these treatments.
Restylane Silk, a more fluid version of hyaluronic acid, is specifically formulated for treatment of fine lines around the mouth and lip enhancement. The results are natural with less post procedure swelling than other products.
Radiesse is a volume enhancing filler that provides excellent, long lasting results. It is used in the mid-face as well as for deep folds between the nose and mouth and in the lower face. Radiesse provides immediate improvement with little downtime.
Sculptra is a volume enhancing filler that provides gradual results over the course of two to four treatments spaced about four weeks apart. Many of our patients appreciate the natural, subtle approach to cosmetic enhancement. Sculptra can be injected in the temples, cheeks, chin and in deep folds to provide a “lift” without surgery.
Dr. Goodlerner provides mid-depth 25-50% TCA (trichloracetic acid) chemical peels that are appropriate for most skin types (although the higher percentages are best for fair skins). These peels improve fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, pigmentation problems, and even superficial scarring, such as acne scars.
Laser and Light Treatments in Cosmetic Dermatology
More than 25 years ago, Dr. Goodlerner was one of the first dermatologists in the South Bay to offer laser and light treatments. She uses some of the most advanced lasers available today, including the Fraxel Laser and the CO2 Fractional Laser.
These cosmetic dermatology treatments can improve the signs of aging, hyperpigmentation, rosacea, veins, and acne scars. They can also remove tattoos and excess hair.
Sun exposure and time combine to cause aging of the skin. Now we have several laser resurfacing treatments that can turn back the clock: Fraxel laser which is done in a series with a short healing time and Fractional CO2 laser which is done in one treatment with 7-8 days of healing.
One of the most effective non-surgical anti-aging procedures, Fraxel Laser treatment allows you to look years younger without the downtime associated with surgery. This non-invasive laser skin resurfacing treatment can improve fine lines, acne scars, brown spots and rough texture. The laser treatment is done in a series of 3-5 sessions and heals in a weekend.
Fractional CO2 Laser
While Fraxel allows for a shorter healing time after each of 4-5 sessions, the CO2 laser is done in a single treatment and works best for people over the age of 50. It provides a non-surgical solution for more severe irregular pigmentation, signs of aging, and sun damage. The fractional CO2 laser also benefits “smoker’s lines” and wrinkles around the eyes.
V Beam Pulsed Dye Laser
The VBeam pulsed dye laser is a more effective option than IPL or Intense Pulsed Light for facial redness and brown spots. And, we can use this laser for rosacea, raised scars, red acne scars, leg veins, stretch marks and resistant warts. Rest assured, this treatment for both medical and cosmetic dermatology is completely safe, even for infants and children.
Laser Hair Removal
Dr. Goodlerner offers Laser Hair Removal for men and women with the GentleLASE System, which safely and almost permanently removes body hair without damaging the delicate pores and structures of the skin.
Dr Goodlerner removes spider veins on the legs with Sclerotherapy, which involves injection of an FDA approved medication into each dilated vein . She recommends pulsed dye laser treatment for vein removal on the face, neck and chest.
